We examine racial inequality and the racist distribution of assets and alternatives. We research the racialized history of colonialism, imperialism, and mass incarceration. We emphasize that race, gender, sexuality, class, citizenship, capacity and different axes of inequality produce asymmetrical, discriminatory distributions of life possibilities.

Drawing on history, literature, cultural studies, social science, and science, it offers interdisciplinary views from which to study the range of human expertise.
